How We Make Money

Grumpy Old Gamers is free to use and earns money from some of the store links on this site. Where a link pays us, it is marked with a gold coin icon next to the store name, and buying through it costs you no more than going to the store directly.

The two ways we get paid

They work differently behind the scenes, which matters mainly for what tracking gets set when you click.

• Affiliate networks. Links to GOG and Humble Bundle go through an affiliate network (Adtraction and Impact respectively). The network redirects you to the store and sets its own cookie so that a later purchase is credited to us. We are paid a commission on the sale.
• Creator programme. Links to the Epic Games Storego directly to Epic and carry our Support-A-Creator tag as part of the web address. There is no third-party network and no redirect through anyone else. Epic attributes the visit itself and pays us a share of the revenue. This is Epic's Creator Program— we are not an Epic partner, and Epic has no involvement in what this site says about their store or anyone else's.

What this does not affect

Nothing that pays us changes what you are shown. Prices are ordered cheapest first, always, and the cheapest store is highlighted whether or not it earns us anything. Most of the stores we list — Steam among them — pay us nothing at all, and they are shown on exactly the same terms as the ones that do.

We are not paid to feature, rank, review or recommend any game or store, and no store has any say in our listings.

Prices

Prices come from third-party sources and can be out of date or wrong. Some are converted from another currency by us and marked with a ~. Always check the price on the store's own page before buying — that is the one you will actually pay.
